The Joost Van Vollenhoven Memorial 1914-1918 is a monument dedicated to a French officer and colonial administrator who died during the First World War. The monument is located near the village of Longpont, in the forest of Villers-Cotterêts, where you will find many trails of different lengths and difficulties. You can run in the woods, admire historical monuments and pay tribute to fallen soldiers. Longpont Abbey is a former Cistercian monastery dating from the 12th century. You can admire the impressive ruins of the Gothic church, the elegant 18th century buildings and the fortified gate that once protected the abbey. The abbey is located in the Savière valley, surrounded by the Retz forest, which offers many trails for running.

The memorial is located on the edge of departmental road No. 2 (Villers-Cotterêts to Longpont), near the Villers-Cotterêts forest, where General Mangin's 10th army launched an offensive against German positions in July 1918.
