Since June 2024, the memorial to the soldiers of the 22nd Canadian Regiment who died here during the First World War has been home to "le harfang des neiges," a work of art by Quebecois Marie-Josée Leroux.

Here we can literally call it "the summit of Flanders," or at least one of its peaks: the Katsberg. As if the Katsberg itself, at 150 meters, wasn't high enough (some sources even mention 164 meters), a towering television mast, owned by TéléDiffusion de France, was also erected atop it. This mast alone is taller than the mountain itself, at around 200 meters. Just drive to the base of this mast and you'll be amazed at how high 200 meters really is. Driving instructions are hardly necessary: the television mast dominates the entire region, so you can see it from miles away. Barn Owl, a work of pure land art, sits majestically along the Peenacker hiking trail in Berthen. This barn owl, measuring over 3.5 meters tall, is an impressive sculptural installation created from natural elements of the Flemish Mountains. It blends harmoniously into the Flemish landscape and territory, offering an artistic experience that awakens wonder. Its objective goes beyond aesthetics, highlighting local biodiversity to educate and surprise visitors of all ages. Liprandi Rodolpho; Italian artist born in Trieste in 1994. A graduate in Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, he specializes in creating Land Art sculptural works depicting animals. These unique installations are the result of an in-depth exploration of the relationship between humans and nature. Using local natural materials, the artist conducts an artistic investigation aimed at raising awareness, educating and promoting the natural heritage of the areas where he works.
