Former Visitation Convent. In the 17th and 18th centuries, it was an educational center for young girls from the nobility and bourgeoisie of Forez, run by the Visitandines. The convent chapel, dominated by a dome, was home to the Assize Court.

From its medieval origins, Champdieu draws all its character. Between hills and plain, the village was built under the protection of the high walls of its priory and in the shade of the two bell towers of its church.

The priory represents a monastic complex built from the 11th century. Rich in sculpted capitals, the church stands out with its half-buried crypt from the 11th century, while the refectory still retains a 15th century fresco representing The Last Supper.
