The route along the Saone is beautiful, especially for cyclists, flat with a good road surface. There are picnic tables in various places and you can also just enjoy the water on the verge. The bank slopes gradually and water birds can be seen everywhere.

The body of water is perfect for a break to observe the surrounding wildlife. The place is equipped with tables for having a picnic, pontoons for fishing, relaxation and observation areas. You can rest in the shade of the trees present throughout the site.

Nice view from the bridge of the river and the old town. At least with a bike path. More information: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%A2con

Built between 1490 and 1510, the Maison de Bois is undoubtedly the oldest house in Macon, and most certainly the most famous. Its façade, entirely built of wood, is decorated with a multitude of statues, often of a greedy inspiration. Characters with masks of men and monkeys more or less grimacing, they are standing, sitting, winged, naked or sometimes dressed only in a scarf or a cap. Some, with their outstretched arms, alternately hold the head and tail of a fantastic animal to the real. The Maison de Bois was compared, by the Goncourt brothers, to a gigantic wooden chest that the Mâconnais should only look at as a glimpse, because of the colorful sculptures that adorn its walls. http://www.macon-tourism.com/uk/visit-macon/289/Maison-de-Bois

Place de la Barre is one of the most historic places in Macon. It was originally located outside the walls, next to the massive Porte de la Barre, through which Louis XII entered the city in 1501, after having landed at the port of Breuil and bypassed the ramparts. These disappeared in 1774 and access to the city center was made easier. This place was called Cour de la Barre, a name that the revolutionaries transformed into the Porte de la Montagne, then shortly after the Place des Champs-Élysées. In 1900, the city built the Tacot station, a small building without charm, but which has enjoyed good traffic. The producers came from Haut Mâconnais in a tacot to sell their vegetables and settled near the stop. It has been in service for 30 years. After the Great War, the garden of the square was laid out and the statue of the bucket bearers was installed there, by the Maconnais sculptor Alexandre Morlon, who already created the war memorial in the Square de la Paix. https://www.lejsl.com/edition-macon/2015/08/17/la-place-de-la-barre-de-la-montagne-aux-champs-elysees
