The castle is open again after extensive repairs and can be visited for six euros (as of June 2025).

Vitteaux is the starting point for two signposted circular hikes: to the archaeological site of “Camp de Myard” or to the rocks of Saffres.

Panthier Lake (or Panthier Reservoir) is a 130 ha lake in Côte d'Or (Burgundy, administrative region Bourgogne-Franche-Comté) located in the communes of Vandenesse-en-Auxois, Créancey and Commarin. It is the largest lake in Côte-d'Or and one of the five reservoirs created to supply the Burgundy Canal. It is also a bird sanctuary and is listed in the general inventory of historical heritage.

Incredibly beautiful little place full of medieval charm. The (quite short) tour here is definitely worth it - try to use all the paths on the map - it's worth it. The castle is currently being renovated, but is simply impressive even from the outside.

Great view over the surrounding landscape and many smaller and larger caves to explore at the base of the cliff.

The castle can be seen from afar and a visit to the old village on a prominent hill is worthwhile.
