The Château d'Auberville is a 16th century fortified residence, surrounded by vast outbuildings and equipped with a round tower, a polygonal tower and a richly sculpted door. You can run along the walls and admire the architecture and history of this place, property of the Toustain family, damaged during the Hundred Years War. The castle is not open to the public, but you can enjoy the view from the outside and imagine life in this ancient residence.

Sissi, Empress of Austria, stayed in the castle (now a hotel) in the summer of 1885. This 18th century residence is enthroned in the middle of a beautiful park. (Michelin) In the castle of Sassetot-le-Mauconduit, the Austrian Empress Elisabeth, also known as 'Sissi', stayed for several months in 1875. She went horse-hunting there, although the trip in Vienna had been announced as a necessary sea cure, for Elisabeth's 7-year-old daughter Marie Valerie. On June 29, 1875, Empress Elisabeth arrived in Fécamp on a special train. Two days later she moved into the castle. She took a retinue of almost 70 men and 2 of her favorite horses. She had rented the castle. She left again on September 25 of the same year. She never returned to Normandy. The castle itself is classically built in the 18th century. In 1772 it was put down by Jean Robert Bigot. The castle has now been converted into a hotel-restaurant. It has an 11 hectare park. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sassetot-le-Mauconduit

The Château de Janville , built at the beginning of the XVII century (around 1610) by Jean Louvel de Janville, is a typical Louis XIII castle of bricks and sandstones listed with the french national trust. In the XIX century , 2 pavillions were very tastefully added as well as 3 towers on the backside by the Baron of Sancy to create the romantic castle that we see today. The castle is surrounded by a 40 acres park with hundred years old trees , Japanese maples , numerous roses and rhododendrons. A dove House built in 1781 as well as stables, gate house and other commons building and more recently 2 swimming pools complete the estate.

Auberville-la-Manuel has a pretty castle dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. You can discover all the elements of local architecture: half-timbered with grid, cross of Saint Andrew, masonry gates, flint in checkerboard, enamelled brick decoration and traditional circular dovecote http://remparts-de-normandie.eklablog.com/les-remparts-d-auberville-la-manuel-seine-maritime-a165231650
