The Old School in Egenhausen is the heart of the Franconian Wayside Shrine Center in the Upper Werntal Valley. A modern, permanent exhibition covering approximately 90 square meters provides information on the cultural history of wayside shrines: vivid, entertaining, interactive, and multimedia. Research the Upper Werntal Wayside Shrine Database here and prepare for your journey of discovery into the land of wayside shrines—perhaps with regional wayside shrine legends in the local dialect. The spacious outdoor area in front of the exhibition building promises a different kind of preparation. Rest among wayside shrines under old cherry trees and enjoy the atmosphere of a Franconian village. The designated wayside shrine trails through the region also begin here at the information center. Open Sundays and public holidays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The museum is closed between All Saints' Day and Easter Sunday. Guided tours for groups are available by appointment.
