The 314-meter-long bridge was built between 1875 and 1878 during the construction of the Koblenz-Trier railway line as part of the "Kanonenbahn" (Cannon Railway). During World War II, supplies to the Western Front ran over the bridge. On February 10, 1945, it was destroyed in an air raid and rebuilt, reopening on April 24, 1947. The "St. Antonius" simultaneous church is located at the foot of the town in a small meadow valley. It is the smallest and second oldest simultaneous church in the Rhein-Hunsrück district. The Romanesque west tower was built around 1370 and was also used as a protection and escape tower. The choir and nave were added to the tower around 100 years later.
