The economic and political center of the city, the Place des Vosges has preserved its old arcades, formerly reserved for merchants. On the first arcade, the oldest (13th century), a plaque recalls the name of the Place des Vosges in Paris. On the other side, admire a Renaissance house called "du Bailli", built in 1604 by a rich papermaker. The ground floor is occupied by an art gallery.
