Now home to the Haute-Vienne Museum of Contemporary Art, it was once the dynastic residence of the Viscounts of Rochechouart. The keep, built in the 11th century, is surrounded by the remains of a 15th-century building.

Footbridge which allows you to cross the Charente, which swells the waters of the beautiful Lavaud Gelade lake. It is one of the largest lakes in the Creuse, after Lake Vassivière. Wilder than the latter, it is located in the heart of the Millevaches Regional Natural Park and is classified as a Natura 2000 area.

The thermal baths of Chassenon date from the Gallo-Roman period. They were settled in the town of Cassinomagus, bordered by the via Aggripa, a road which then linked Saintes to Lyon. Beautiful little village, historic houses, cute small shops and very old chirch. Small cafe in Front of chirch has good coffee and local goodies like cheese and other specialities.

Lac de Lavaud is actually an artificial lake created by man using a dam. Although swimming is often prohibited there, the lake is a beautiful natural feature to explore.
