This nice country road offers the cyclists a great alternative to the busy road. The surface is manly good and no traffic.

Before arriving at the Rail Trail, one is surrounded by magnificent half-timbered typical Alsatian houses from 100 years ago. The road is in need of some repairs.

The road from Oltingue to Altkirch is lined with so many nice typical Alsatian half-timbered houses, giving one the feeling of what a typical village looked like 100 years ago. The street running through the villages here is in need of some surface repairs.

Waldighofen is a beautiful little typical picturesque village having that certain Alsatian charm, the entire road is dotted with these beautiful well-kept houses. The road inside the villages is in need of repair.

This region has hundreds of small fishponds, once created by monks in the Middle Ages. Today they form a patchwork of water, reeds and forest – a paradise for birds, cyclists and those seeking peace and quiet. You cycle along quiet banks, see herons take flight and enjoy local specialities such as fried carp along the way.

The current parish church of Oltingue was built between 1827 and 1831 in late classicist style. Striking features include the triangular pediment above the round-arched portal and the Callinet organ from 1843, which is still in use. Together with the presbytery and the former school, the church forms a well-preserved village ensemble from the Louis-Philippe period. The church replaced an older mother church outside the village.

This comfortable cycleway provides a great alternative to the very busy D419 (especially at rushhour). Almost zero traffic here on this route. Enjoy the 4 short climbs on this route which are mainly 4-5%. One word of caution however, the descent down to Altenach can be a bit dangerous due to the loose gravel on the pavement which has been washed down from the fields and forest.
