Sculpture Arpenteur, 2018 – 380 x 360 x 180 cm, cast aluminum and polyester resin. Public installation in the city of Guingamp (Côtes-d'Armor). Arpenteur (meaning surveyor) offers a playful and poetic perspective on the phenomenon of climatic anomalies. This sculpture symbolizes the relentless progress of humankind and industrial production, which profoundly alters the climate and demonstrably leads to a proliferation of extreme weather events and climatic anomalies. This walking figure creates a large cloud behind him, from which heavy rain falls. He is both the creator of this cloud and the one who suffers its consequences. The morphology of this wanderer is striking; he is inhabited by native wildlife and seems to have surveyed this historically rich land for centuries. The installation is interactive and enjoyable. In the presence of the audience, a system of presence sensors integrated into the cloud triggers the rain, transforming the artwork into a refreshing fountain. We were very surprised when we drove down the mountain and suddenly saw this architecturally very remarkable church in front of us. The entrance area is particularly beautifully decorated with the statutes of the apostles and a Madonna from the 14th century.
