Built on the remains of the Gallo-Roman city of Caesarodunum, Saint-Gatien Cathedral stands in the heart of the city. This city was once one of the most famous places of pilgrimage in the West and is still one of the capitals of the Pays de Loire. Opening hours: Saint-Gatien Cathedral is open every day of the week from 8:30 am to 8:00 pm. From Easter to 11 November, you can meet the volunteers of the Présence Cathédrale association in the cathedral. You can recognise them by their badges. They can help you with your visit and answer your questions. For guided tours and group visits, which can take place all year round by reservation, please contact 07 66 39 84 11. On the bike path - approaching Amboise - view of the town It's a dream to arrive in beautiful weather and have such a wonderful view. Amboise is a wonderful town - I highly recommend it to everyone - great food!

At first glance, it may seem surprising that a park here in the French Loire Valley was named after the Italian polymath LEONARDO da VINCI (1452 to 1519). But you have to know that he spent the last years of his life in the neighboring castle Le Clos Lucé at the invitation of the French king and died there on May 2, 1519. His grave is believed to be in the Hubertus Chapel - see https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/958658 - but it is not certain whether his remains are actually there.
