Caesar's Camp in Nucourt owes its name to a legend according to which Julius Caesar and his troops camped there during the Gallic War. It is actually an ancient Celtic fortification dating back to the 6th century BCE. You can explore the remains of the ramparts, ditches and moats, and enjoy the panoramic views of the Vexin français regional natural park. Camp de César is also a venue for cultural and educational activities, such as exhibitions, seminars, workshops and family weekends. The ramparts of Magny were pierced with four doors, open towards Paris, Rouen, Beauvais and Vernon. As part of the construction of the new route of the royal road from Paris to Rouen, the entrances to the city are slightly moved, and the old gates whose defensive role has become obsolete are razed. The pillars symbolically mark the entrance to the city from the capital, in place of the old Porte de Paris. (Wikipedia).
