For having been the largest boatman's village in Eastern France, the municipality and the Circle of Ancient Boatmen have created a museum in a barge installed in the heart of the city. We discuss the history and traditions linked to navigation on the canals. Moored at the Quai des Bateliers, this barge-museum presents a large collection of objects, documents and models retracing the history, techniques and mode life of the inland waterway. The museum is open from May 1 to September 30 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and by appointment throughout the rest of the year. Audio guides in German only (included in the entrance fee). Explanatory signs in German.
