The Porte Saint-Pry in Béthune was a historic gate that formed part of the city's medieval fortifications. Although the gate itself no longer exists, there are still some remains of the old city walls and fortifications in the area. The site of the former gate is now marked as a memorial site, and the area around the Chapelle Saint-Pry offers a glimpse into the history of Béthune and its defenses.

Béthune railway station is a French railway station on the Arras to Dunkerque-Locale and Fives to Abbeville lines, located near the city center of Béthune. It was opened in 1861 by the Compagnie des mines de Béthune. In 1960, it was officially named "Béthune-Nord station" by the Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF), to differentiate it from Béthune-Rivage station1 which was opened by the Compagnie des chemins de fer du Nord.

The Bornes Vauthier are a series of sculptures created in the 1920s by the artist Paul Moreau-Vauthier to mark the front line of the First World War. They are located in Belgium and France and are one of the routes set up to keep the memory of the war alive. The Bornes Vauthier consist of a series of granite monoliths marking the front line as it was in July 1918, during one of the last Allied offensives. A total of 240 Bornes Vauthier are planned, from the North Sea to the Swiss border, between Nieuwpoort in Belgium and Mooslargue near Altkirch/Belfort on the Franco-Swiss border.

Brussels, Lille, Arras of course... But Béthune is no exception to the rule, far from it! The Grand Place of Béthune is less known than the Belfry and has an astonishing charm! Art Deco and the regionalist style predominate on all the facades. During the First World War, Béthune was a rear-front town defended by the British. In May 1918, it was hit by German bombardments and 90% of the city centre was destroyed. In the aftermath of the conflict, the city wanted a modern urban environment, but without breaking with history. The architects appointed for this reconstruction were Jacques Alleman, Paul Dégez and Léon Guthmann. They then adopted an eclectic style combining Art Deco and regionalist architecture, which today gives the city centre its originality and charm. As you cross the Grand Place, look up to enjoy this surprising architecture. Discover the many details that adorn the facades: bunches of grapes, vine leaves, shells, sun...
