The history of the church is interesting. It is only 100 years old. The foundation stone was laid in 1924. Many people from Brüchsen helped with its construction. In the previous two winters, they quarried stones in the Weimarschmieden quarry and transported them to their home village. In 1926, Bishop Matthias Ehrenfried dedicated the church to Saint Anthony of Padua. In 1928, the side altars designed by Professor Hans Angermaier, the church's Munich architect, were added. The organ, whose brightly painted facade fits perfectly into the gallery and the painted barrel vault, the pulpit, the figures of Mary and Anthony, and the main altar come from the old church, which is only a few meters away. The style inside the church is reminiscent of both an Alpine style and the old English style, making it extremely expressive and unique. The church can therefore rightly be described as a jewel in the idyllic setting. The Stations of the Cross are also noteworthy. These are reverse glass paintings by the painter and graphic artist Paul Thalheimer (1884-1948), who was very critical of the Nazi regime and whose works were classified as "degenerate art" in 1937. The asymmetrical tower, integrated into the gable, is impressive, not in the middle of the church as usual, but offset to the side. It was completely renovated in 1976, the roof structure in 1983. The outside of the church was renovated in 1988/89, and the staircase was redesigned in 1994. The interior was renovated in 1999/2000. The roof was renewed in 2017/18.
