Rougemont is an ancient fortified village with surviving ramparts, a medieval gate, and an ancient castle. The village also boasts a 13th-century collegiate church, a listed historic monument. Its history is linked to that of the lords of Rougemont, who were influential in the region during the Middle Ages.

there are beautiful, authentic corners in Baumes-les-Dames. Simply take some time, sit in one of the cafés and watch what goes on. It's worth stopping off in the towns and villages on the Eurovelo 6 every now and then and not cycling through in a hurry!

the Saint-Martin Church initially dates from the 9th century but was rebuilt between 1617 and 1621. An accident on July 14, 1920 caused the fire in its bell tower, thereby amputating its dome and its lantern which were never rebuilt. The building has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1939.

One of the oldest houses in Baume-les-Dames, built in 1574, and which will undoubtedly catch your eye with its corbelled turret. You can read two inscriptions in Latin meaning "Let this house stand until the ant finishes drinking the waves of the sea and the turtle wanders the earth" and "Times are changing and we with them". Another is also found on the lintel of the door and means "Peace to this house". You can now sleep in this house because it accommodates gîtes.
