The Carrière Prospèr is a former quarry in the Couvin region, far from the more famous climbing areas on the Meuse, Lesse and Ourthe. Still, it is worth climbing here, also because you can ideally combine this area with the Rocher de la Maiselle, only 500 meters away. About twenty routes have recently been established in the quarry and some of them are among the most beautiful crevasse routes in the country. If you park the car just west of Olloy-sur-Viroin along the edge of the forest, you get the feeling that you have ended up in the wrong place. However, if you take the trouble to walk the path up the slope, a surprise awaits you at the top of the hill. The eye-catcher of the area is the southeast wall cut off as if with a knife. A rectangular niche has been carved out in the middle of this wall with some of the most characteristic rift routes found in Belgium on either side. It is perhaps the best place in Belgium to put your crevice climbing skills into practice.
