⚜️ The Story of Joan of Arc ⚜️ She was born in Domrémy-la-Pucelle in 1412 to a peasant family. At the age of 13, she began hearing voices telling her to save France from the English. She left her village to seek help from King Charles VII and reclaim the French throne. Joan of Arc successfully convinced King Charles VII to grant her an army. She led this army to several victories against the English, including the liberation of Orléans in 1429. This victory marked a turning point in the Hundred Years' War and led to the defeat of the English. Joan of Arc was captured by the English in 1430. She was tried and burned at the stake in 1431 in Rouen. However, her popularity continued to grow after her death. She was canonized by the Catholic Church in 1920.

The Basilica of Bois-Chenu (Roman Catholic) is a gigantic monument in Domremy-La-Pucelle. It is also called the Basilica of Sainte Joan of Arc. It is located about 11 km from Neufchâteau on an idyllic hill in the Vosges Mountains. From this wooded hill, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Meuse Valley, surrounded by numerous blooming orchids. The birthplace of France's national heroine is also nearby. The massive basilica was built from pink granite from the Vosges Mountains! Bronzes of Joan of Arc and her family stand in the forecourt of the basilica.

Joan of Arc was a resistance fighter during the Hundred Years' War, an armed conflict between England and France. She is venerated as the Maid of Orleans in France. It is said that Joan was a very young, small woman dressed in men's clothing with short hair. From an early age, she was guided by divine voices. In 1431, she was sentenced to death for witchcraft and burned at the stake at the age of just 19. In 1920, she was canonized by the Pope. Statues, monuments, and museums in her honor can be found throughout the country.

JEANNE d'ARC, known in German-speaking countries as "JOHANNA von ORLEANS", (1412? to 1431) was an important person in the history of France at the time of the so-called 100 Years' War between the kingdoms of England and France. After her capture, she was condemned as a heretic (at the instigation of the English) and burned, but two and a half decades later (at the instigation of the French) this sentence was overturned. She is the patron saint of France. The music group OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark) dedicated a song to her in the early 1980s: "Maid of Orleans". The house of Jacques d'Arc, Joan's father, has been the object of continuous pilgrimages since the end of the 16th century. Since Jeanne's time, the house, so recognizable by its gable roof, has however undergone numerous modifications and rearrangements: For example, in the 18th century, the building was integrated into a larger property, in which it was used agricultural annex (wine cellar and bread oven). https://maisonjeannedarc.vosges.fr

5月 5, 2024, Statues de la Vierge, Sainte-Marguerite et Sainte-Jeanne d'Arc à l'Ancien Village de Greux
At this location is currently the grouping of three statues facing the current village: the Virgin, Sainte-Marguerite and Sainte-Jeanne d'Arc. It was in the 17th century that the old village was destroyed like many other villages in Lorraine. France and the Holy Roman Empire had entered into the 30 Years' War (1618-1648) and were competing for the independent Duchy of Lorraine.

The Bermont chapel was probably founded in the 12th century by the Benedictine abbey of Bourgueil, near Angers. In the 13th century, it was attached to the Gerbonvaux hospice and served as a hermitage. According to tradition, Joan of Arc went almost every Saturday to the Notre-Dame de Bermont chapel. During the Revolution, the chapel threatened to fall into ruin and the hermits' accommodation was largely destroyed. Since 1992, the Notre-Dame de Bermont Association has been restoring the site. In 1998, wall frescoes dating from the Johannine era (15th century) were discovered in the chapel. The chapel has been included in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments "as a testimony to the Johannine epic".
