Lac de Bretaye is a peaceful high-altitude lake nestled at 1,800 meters in the Vaud Alps. Visit Lac des Chavonnes for a quiet alpine getaway, where you’ll find a crystal-clear lake surrounded by dense forest and mountain peaks. Located approximately 1,690 meters above sea level, this hidden lake offers hiking trails that wind through pine trees and lead to breathtaking viewpoints. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including marmots and alpine birds, which add to the lake’s serene, natural beauty.

Departing from the Chablais vineyards, the Col de la Croix is 22 kilometers long and 1,300 meters high, ending in an alpine landscape above the Villars resort.

Similar to other villages in the region, accessible by train or by road, it is the starting point for many hikes! Very pretty and very bucolic!

La Chaux-Ronde is a mountain in the western Bernese Alps which dominates Villars-sur-Ollon. You can easily reach its summit from Bretaye with the Bex-Villars-Bretaye railway, or take advantage of a ski lift to its secondary summit. La Chaux-Ronde rises to 2,028 meters and has a prominence of 223 meters, offering stunning views of the surrounding valleys and mountains.
