The Dr. Schneider Bridge is the first bridge on the Nidau-Büren Canal. It is named after Dr. Johann Rudolf Schneider, who campaigned for the correction of the Jura waters. From the bridge you have a beautiful view of the beginning of the canal further ahead on Lake Biel.

The golden vineyards of Twann immerse you in a landscape of vibrant hues, especially during the autumn months when the vine leaves turn yellow. As you walk along the panoramic trails, the gentle slopes offer breathtaking views of Lake Biel, surrounded in the distance by the picturesque Jura Mountains.

Swiss national sports center

Magglingen, or Magglingen in German, is located on a range of hills above the town of Biel and overlooks Zealand. The city is home to the center of the Federal Sports Office as well as the Federal University of Sports. Magglingen is connected to Bienne by the Bienne-Magglingen Funicular. If you take the Douanne gorges walk from Magglingen you can make the return trip from Douanne to Bienne by boat or train.
