Tip 1: Tickets must be purchased online beforehand, there are none available on site! Tip 2: We took the official bus from Pompeii (stops around the archaeological site) for €3.2 straight up to the park entrance; You can't get that far by car, you have to park further down and then walk up the tar road or take a private shuttle/taxi

This is the highest paved point to the Vesuvio vulcano summit. At the parking trailhead are restrooms and places to lock bikes. Out of season and if there are no tourists it might be feasible to bike the gravel trail unnoticed.

Vesuvius crater migration with guide is spectacular. The show, which is triggered by the embers and puffs of a burning cigarette, was phenomenal. For dizziness the tour may not be recommended. Good footwear is a MUST!

It will fail to reach Vesuvius with a tour planned by the komoot algorithm. We tried it. All paths through the national park were closed (September 2019) by gates. Only possible was the road. It is best to go by bus or rent a car.

Really impressive mountain / volcano. You can drive amazingly far up the mountain by car - only the last few hundred meters up to the edge of the crater, it is then still climb. You have to buy the ticket at the little house in the last corner - many people like me had to run back from the kiosk / access area to get a ticket.

For entry 10 € are due. However, you can run only 1/3 of the route with the bus tourists and then return again because the circuit is closed (06.2019), since 2 years ago was a forest fire. The other Vesuvius circular hiking trail with 8.5km is also closed.
