12月 14, 2025, Tchier de Borée
The Tchier de Borée is a contemporary artwork situated in the heart of the volcanic landscapes of the Boutières region. Created in 2008 by Fabienne Versé and Serge Boyer, this megalithic installation comprises 70 standing stones arranged in a circle 80 meters in diameter. Each stone bears a symbol or message: runes, astrological signs, natural elements (air, water, fire, earth), winds, mythology… The word “Tchier” (from the local dialect) means “pile of stones”: a tribute to stone, time, and the memory of the land. https://www.montagnedardeche.com/patrimoine-culturel/tchier-de-boree-2634/

Mont Gerbier-de-Jonc is one of the highest peaks of the Monts d'Ardèche in the south-eastern Massif Central. The mountain itself is a striking, extinct volcanic cone with a good view over the Massif Central. The ascent and descent require some fitness and good footwear. There are a few short climbing rocks that cannot be avoided. But the view is worth it.

Possibility of starting from the 3 stations in the region and thus completing one of the 3 sections of +_ 30km outward and possibly return depending on the time or desires. Accessible to all, be careful however it climbs all the time coming from the Rhône. Superb landscapes and very secure routes, accessible to all levels, gravel and vtc, quite a bit of gravel.

The Ray-Pic waterfall is a natural waterfall and a natural volcanic site. The amazing rock formations of this 60-meter waterfall follow a lava flow that forms a cascade of basalt columns.

Le Cheylard station is on the Dolce Via greenway. There are picnic tables and a bike repair station. Very useful for adjusting your bike and checking your tire pressure before you start pedaling!

Mont Gerbier-De-Jonc is a dormant volcano that is relatively easy to climb. Make sure you wear a pair of comfortable shoes with a sturdy profile and follow the marked route. It takes a little effort, but a mighty view awaits you at the top. Ideal for resting, taking photos or taking a moment of silence!

9月 27, 2021, Cascade du Ray-Pic
Thousands of years ago, Ray-Pic was an active volcano. This volcano regularly spewed large lava flows, which bore through the surrounding landscape. Research has shown that these lava flows must have been among the longest lava flows in Europe. For example, some lava flows would have been more than twenty kilometers long. As a result of all the natural disasters, Cascade du Ray-Pic was created, as well as the surrounding landscape. Relatively early in history, this waterfall came to be known as one of the most beautiful sights in Ardèche. In 1931 Cascade du Ray-Pic and its surroundings were declared one of the most important natural sites in this region.

9月 28, 2020, Montée de Montivernoux
Away from traffic, here is a very nice climb of 15 km to reach Lachamp Raphaël, the highest village in the Ardèche. The ascent starts practically at the foot of the Col de Moucheyres shortly after having crossed the hamlet of Freyssenet then that of Mas coming from Labastide sur Besorgues. The road gradually rises in the chestnut trees then dominates the Besorgues. The average slope fluctuates between 5 and 6% on average then straightens up a little more after crossing the bridge that spans the Besorgues. We quickly gain height to dominate the Tanargue massif, the first rampart of the Cévennes. At the end, the profile softens noticeably as it enters the Bois de Cuze forest. The Suc de Montivernoux and its 3 crosses end up revealing themselves on the right, a sign that you are reaching the top while the panorama opens onto the Ardèche plateau from which emerges the elongated silhouette of Mont Mézenc.

Like many peaks in this region, Mont Gerbier-de-Jonc is of volcanic origin. There is a one-way climbing ascent and a descent. This is also necessary because, when the weather is good, there is a lot going on here on weekends or during the holidays and "climbers" of all ages make their way to the summit. At the height of the mountain lies an important watershed: the official source of the Loire is located here, and not far away rises the Ardèche, which winds its way through the department of the same name towards the Rhône. Even if there is a lot going on here, the climb is worth it and is also recommended with children.

great climbing, but may be hard for younger children. the path is very clearly indicated (one way up, one way down). this trip is to be avoided under rain or wet conditions because the rocks can get very slippery. the climbing will take around 30mn, and the downhill.. the same time! because this is steep and you want to be cautious.

The climb is especially fun with children, as it is a narrow path with some climbing. Down there are 2 passages on the rope. Everything is very safe but just makes you happy. The view upstairs is terrific. We stayed one day up in Ruoms at 36 ° C. At the top it was 20 ° C. Super. The storm passed us by.
