Like many peaks in this region, Mont Gerbier-de-Jonc is of volcanic origin. There is a one-way climbing ascent and a descent. This is also necessary because, when the weather is good, there is a lot going on here on weekends or during the holidays and "climbers" of all ages make their way to the summit.

At the height of the mountain lies an important watershed: the official source of the Loire is located here, and not far away rises the Ardèche, which winds its way through the department of the same name towards the Rhône.

Even if there is a lot going on here, the climb is worth it and is also recommended with children.

The climb is especially fun with children, as it is a narrow path with some climbing. Down there are 2 passages on the rope. Everything is very safe but just makes you happy.

Mont Gerbier-De-Jonc is a dormant volcano that is relatively easy to climb. Make sure you wear a pair of comfortable shoes with a sturdy profile and follow the marked route.
