The water from the Boniface Spring, which is set in stone, flows into the Schötener Bach. The town chronicle states: A fresh spring springs out of a rock, the only one in the whole area. People call it the Boniface Spring and say that it was created by the power of this saint who taught and preached here.

The Lindwurm Song was written in the summer of 2012 by Ruth-Barbara Schlenker, pastor in Niedertrebra near Apolda ● a proud, falling, and dying count ● a wayward horse ● a fair daughter and later bride ● the Edeiknabe, squire, and groom Veit ● two hideous lindworms ● an unsuccessful knight, an old hermit ● the inhabitants of Schöten joined in. The carcasses of two lindworms – named War and Crime – have recently contaminated this richly blessed region of Thuringia in central Germany.
