Nel 1938 il castello fu prima affittato da Josephine Baker e poi acquistato nel 1947. Installò elettricità e acqua nel castello e nel vicino villaggio di Milandes, diventando così il primo villaggio del Périgord ad avere questi servizi. Josephine Baker ha anche commissionato una ristrutturazione completa degli interni.
