    Il monumento sul Rumpelstein è stato inaugurato nel 1936 e commemora i soldati tedeschi di Gernsbach morti nella prima guerra mondiale. La costruzione durante la dittatura nazista è facilmente riconoscibile per la costruzione: al centro dell'edificio c'è un elmo d'acciaio di grandi dimensioni su un blocco di pietra simile a un altare, una tipica rappresentazione degli edifici nazisti. Sul lato della montagna c'era una svastica sotto l'aquila imperiale, oggi c'è un cerchio vuoto nel luogo.
