The Löcknitz is a significant river in northern Germany, flowing for 66 kilometers through the federal states of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Brandenburg, and a small section of Lower Saxony. As a right tributary of the Elbe River, its source lies south of Parchim near Ziegendorf, and it meanders south before joining the Elbe near Wehningen. This ecologically rich Löcknitz fluss is characterized by its pronounced bends and the diverse natural landscapes it traverses, making it a vital natural monument in the region.
