Is the Edison and Ford Winter Estates accessible for visitors with mobility challenges?

The Estates strive to be as accessible as possible. Many areas, including the museum, laboratory, and parts of the gardens, are wheelchair accessible. However, some historic buildings may have limited accessibility due to their original construction. It's recommended to contact the Estates directly or check their website for detailed accessibility information and any specific accommodations you might need.

Pets, including dogs, are generally not allowed, with the exception of service animals. It's always a good idea to confirm their current pet policy before your visit.

What are the typical weather conditions, and what should I wear when visiting?

Fort Myers, Florida, experiences warm to hot temperatures year-round. The cooler, drier months from November to April are often considered the most pleasant for outdoor exploration. During summer (May-October), expect hot and humid conditions with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Regardless of the season, it's advisable to wear lightweight, breathable clothing, a hat, sunglasses, and apply sunscreen. Comfortable walking shoes are essential for navigating the extensive grounds and historic pathways, as mentioned in the intro.
