The Diemelsee Dam, also known as Diemelstaumauer, is an impressive man-made monument and historical site nestled in the picturesque Diemelsee Nature Park, at an elevation of approximately 379 meters.     Escursionismo

    Lo scopo originario del bacino di Diemel, insieme al bacino di Eder, era quello di bilanciare i livelli delle acque del Weser e del canale Mittelland. Lo scopo era quello di migliorare le condizioni di navigazione sull'Alto Weser. Dal 1960 la preoccupazione principale è la livellazione dell'Alto Weser.

    La diga alta circa 42 metri e l'edificio della centrale elettrica, completati nel 1924, sono ora classificati come monumenti storici. La vista della diga è impressionante.

    La diga è anche uno dei luoghi più suggestivi del Sauerland. Simboleggia il tema della “forza e della potenza”.
