    Il castello, originariamente molto più piccolo, fu distrutto da un incendio dopo essere stato saccheggiato dagli Engadini nel 1499. Solo allora riemerse dalle sue dimensioni attuali grazie alla ricostruzione come castello di corte reale e fu utilizzato come prigione e tribunale.
