    Nel XVI secolo, il conte Werner von Salm-Reifferscheid fece ricostruire il castello in stile rinascimentale. Nel 1839, la Cavalleria Renana acquisì la proprietà e la utilizzò come accademia cavalleresca. Dopo un ampio restauro negli anni '80, l'ultimo restauro risale al 2008. Di particolare interesse è il cortile porticato con tetto in vetro, in stile primo Rinascimento italiano. Oggi, le eleganti sale ospitano eventi culturali, conferenze e feste private. Il castello con fossato è particolarmente apprezzato come location romantica per matrimoni.
