Tymon Park offers an extensive network of well-maintained walking and cycling trails, including several waymarked woodland paths. While specific named routes aren't highlighted, visitors frequently enjoy exploring the paths that meander alongside the River Poddle and around the park's two main lakes. The park features a variety of terrain, from paved paths suitable for casual strolls to more natural woodland trails. The overall elevation is around 66 meters, making most paths relatively flat and accessible for a wide range of fitness levels. The trails are generally considered easy, perfect for leisurely walks, family outings, and trail running without significant climbs.

Many of Tymon Park's paths are well-maintained and paved, making them suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. However, some of the woodland trails might be unpaved and could present challenges, especially after rain. It's advisable to stick to the main, wider paths for the most accessible experience.

Beyond its extensive woodlands and wildflower meadows, Tymon Park is notable for the historic River Poddle, which feeds two significant lakes and numerous ponds. Visitors can also look for traces of the ancient Tymon Castle, which once stood on a ridge by Tymon Lane. The park is also a haven for biodiversity, with over 120 bird species and 125 distinct tree species.

Tymon Park is suitable for winter walks, offering a serene experience amidst its woodlands and along the River Poddle. Tymon Park is exceptionally family-friendly, boasting four playgrounds, including a Woodland Adventure Playground for older children and a popular "mud pit" with timber pig sculptures for younger visitors. There's also a natural playground designed to encourage engagement with the environment, ensuring ample entertainment for children of all ages.

Tymon Park is very dog-friendly, featuring a dedicated 3,700 square meter dog run where dogs can play safely off-leash. Regular dog training classes are also available. Throughout the rest of the park, dogs are welcome but should be kept on a leash, especially in areas with wildlife or near playgrounds.

Tymon Park is well-served by public transport. Several bus routes operate in the surrounding areas of Tallaght, Templeogue, and Walkinstown, with stops conveniently located near various park entrances. Currently, there isn't a permanent cafe operating within Tymon Park. However, future developments include an Intergenerational Centre with a multi-functional community space and cafe. In the meantime, visitors can find various cafes and refreshment options in the nearby areas of Tallaght, Templeogue, and Walkinstown, just a short distance from the park.

Tymon Park is a haven for wildlife, particularly birds. Over 120 bird species have been recorded, including sightings of elusive kingfishers and buzzards. The park's varied habitats, including woodlands, wildflower meadows, and wetlands around the River Poddle and lakes, support a diverse range of fauna, making it an excellent spot for wildlife enthusiasts.

While there isn't one officially designated 'circular route' that covers the entire park, the extensive network of paths allows visitors to easily create their own circular walks. Many hikers and trail runners enjoy combining the paths around the lakes with sections of the woodland trails to form varied loops, often utilizing the pedestrian bridges to explore both sides of the M50 motorway.
