    Lichtenau fu fondata nel 1774 dai Fratelli Moravi per l'opera missionaria degli Inuit. Fino all'inizio del XX secolo, Alluitsoq/Lichtenau era uno dei più grandi insediamenti della Groenlandia... ma un porto divenne sempre più importante (qui non ne esiste uno)... così gli abitanti si trasferirono gradualmente ad Alluitsup Paa. Lichtenau fu abbandonata nel 2009.
