    La stazione di Rio Claro fu inaugurata nel 1897 e per molti anni fu il capolinea della linea, fino all'apertura della stazione di Lídice, tredici anni dopo.
    Tra il 1946 e il 1956 la città e la stazione si chiamavano Itaverá. Quindi ripristinarono il loro nome originale.
    L'edificio attuale della stazione non è quello originale del 1897. L'originale era in legno e nel 1909 (vedi sotto) era in pessimo stato. Un nuovo edificio, quello che esisteva ancora nel 2003, fu costruito più tardi, in data imprecisata e dopo il 1922.
