Dopotutto, il consiglio comunale del 28 giugno 1862 decise che l'edificio era diventato fatiscente. I progetti dell'architetto Kompus (Anversa) furono considerati troppo costosi e quindi non accettati. Il comune ottenne un prestito di 40.000 franchi, autorizzato con regio decreto del 5 dicembre 1862. L'edificio fu realizzato sotto il sindaco J. Van Raemdonck. Nel 1972 l'edificio è stato ampliato nella parte posteriore e ristrutturato il vecchio volume.
