    Il nome di questo parco elegantemente paesaggistico vicino a numerosi musei e ministeri deriva dal Palais Spee, sede del Museo cittadino in Schwanenspiegel/Berger Allee.


    L'area della fortezza a sud della città vecchia fu ridisegnata da Maximilian Friedrich Weyhe intorno al 1806 e di nuovo negli anni '30 in un complesso di parco caratterizzato principalmente dall'acqua. Incorporò un precedente bastione ("Marie Amalie"). I platani di 200 anni, il roseto del Palais Spee, i massicci bastioni e le sculture danno oggi accenti caratteristici.
