La costruzione del Rheingarten, nel centro storico di Colonia, è durata più di un anno. La nuova passeggiata sul Reno presso il ponte Deutzer è stata inaugurata giusto in tempo per l'inizio dei Campionati Europei. Nello specifico, sulla storica diga marittima del 1890 è stato necessario posizionare lastre larghe 5 metri (“lastre a sbalzo”) perché in questa sezione la sicurezza non poteva più essere garantita.
Ciclisti e pedoni condividono ancora il percorso. Ma ora è un po' più ampio, quindi non vi intralciate tanto.
