Da un lato dell'HellemanToren c'è il Virupoort nelle mura della città, dall'altro lato c'è la Torre del monaco.
In epoca sovietica, la torre apparteneva all'Associazione Cinema. Sotto la torre si trova un sottovano senza accesso, probabilmente creato per ridurre l'umidità. Negli anni '60 la torre, insieme alla parte adiacente del muro, scivolò di un metro, venne sorretta e conservata.
