    Non si conosce l'epoca in cui fu costruita per la prima volta una chiesa a Göbschelwitz. Una piccola finestra romanica nella torre indica un periodo di costruzione nell'Alto Medioevo.[2] Intorno al 1500 e nel periodo successivo Göbschelwitz era una chiesa filiale di Podelwitz.

    Nel 1747 si ha notizia di una riparazione totale della chiesa, il cui campanile ora aveva tre campane. Nel 1765 la chiesa bruciò quasi completamente insieme al villaggio. Dopo la ricostruzione avrebbe offerto la vista mostrata nella foto del 1840. Notevole l'alta cuspide ottagonale.
