Il sito, in seguito occupato da eremiti, fu dedicato a Notre-Dame de La Salette nel 1864, 20 anni dopo la sua apparizione sulle Alpi. Parallelamente viene introdotto il pellegrinaggio mensile alla cappella, ogni 19 del mese, in particolare il 19 settembre, data dell'apparizione della Vergine Maria.
Nello stesso tempo la cappella fu rilevata dai missionari di Notre-Dame de la Salette. Gli affreschi moderni dell'interno furono realizzati nel 1952 dal pittore biterrois Jacques Bringuier.
