    Per commemorare i caduti del Natale dell'omicidio di Sendlinger nel dicembre 1705, il monumento dell'Oberland fu eretto nel possibile luogo di nascita del leader della rivolta, il fabbro von Kochel. Waakirchen è stato sostenuto dallo storico Nepomuk Sepp. Il monumento fu inaugurato il 20 agosto 1905 alla presenza di S.A.R. Svelato il principe Ludovico di Baviera. Nato il 6 gennaio 1644 a Waakirchen, si dice che Balthasar Mayer sia identico al fabbro di Kochel.
    Ogni anno il 24 dicembre, dopo una messa ai piedi del monumento, le compagnie di fucilieri da montagna commemorano i caduti della rivolta contadina.
