    Paderne è un comune di Albufeira, lì puoi visitare un possente rudere (castelo de paterne) costruito nel periodo moresco, un sentiero escursionistico particolarmente bello conduce dalla fine del paese oltre una fontana con un lavatoio al castello con una grande vista e da lì in poi lungo il ribero de ouateira fino al cosiddetto ponte romano e un mulino ad acqua.

    Il castello di Paderne, risalente all'XI o XII secolo, è uno dei sette castelli rappresentati sulla bandiera del Portogallo e un importante esempio di architettura militare islamica nella penisola iberica. Il castello fu costruito durante il periodo musulmano e preso durante la riconquista cristiana nel 1248. Nonostante fosse caduto in disuso e avesse subito danni, soprattutto a causa del terremoto del 1755, fu classificato come Bene di Interesse Pubblico nel 1971.
