    Nel 1897, l'Assemblea della Contea di Śmigiel approvò una risoluzione per la costruzione di una ferrovia a scartamento ridotto con uno scartamento di 1000 mm, che collegasse Krzywiń, Stare Bojanowo, Śmigiel, Wielichowo e Ujazd.

    I lavori di costruzione iniziarono nel 1898.

    Nel 1900 fu inaugurata la prima tratta tra Krzywiń e Stare Bojanowo, seguita dalla linea Stare Bojanowo-Wielichowo. Inizialmente, il materiale rotabile era costituito da locomotive a vapore e vagoni passeggeri e merci.
