12° secolo da Geroldo, primo vescovo di Lubecca.
Nel 1683 la prima chiesa versava in pessime condizioni strutturali e si decise di costruirne una nuova. La prima pietra fu posta il 27 marzo 1683.
Il 24 luglio 1827 a Curau infuriò un grande incendio, 22 edifici furono distrutti, compresa la chiesa.
La chiesa venne poi nuovamente consacrata il 5 aprile 1829.
