La chiesa di St. Nicolai si trova nel centro di Westerland e vicino alla stazione ferroviaria.
La Chiesa evangelica luterana fu costruita a causa di un notevole aumento della popolazione, perché la chiesa del villaggio di St. Niels era diventata troppo piccola.
