    A Franeker merita una visita la leggendaria Martinikerkerk. L'edificio gotico della chiesa fu costruito nel XV secolo al centro del monte Franeker ed è dedicato a San Martino.
    La pseudo-basilica ha trenta colonne tra le tre navate e dodici colonne intorno al coro. Su una fila di scrofe puoi vedere immagini di santi. Le imponenti lapidi nella chiesa sono quelle di ricchi nobili e professori. La Martinikerk è l'unica chiesa medievale della Frisia con un percorso pedonale, quindi i pellegrini possono passeggiare intorno alla chiesa per un po'. L'organo del 1842 è stato realizzato da Van

    La Martinikerk è l'unica chiesa medievale della Frisia dotata di deambulatorio. L'organo, risalente al 1842, fu progettato da Van Dam. Fu restaurato tra il 1940 e il 1943 su progetto di Herman van der Kloot Meijburg.
