    La chiesa Nostra Signora dell'Assistenza fu costruita negli anni 1877-1879 affinché Baarle-Nassau avesse una propria parrocchia. Prima di allora la chiesa di San Remigio, che si trova nell'attuale Baarle-Hertog, era la chiesa parrocchiale di entrambi i luoghi. Tuttavia, tra la diocesi di Breda e l'arcidiocesi di Mechelen-Bruxelles sorse un disaccordo su quanto sarebbe stato pagato il parroco, dopodiché Baarle-Nassau decise di costruire una propria chiesa.
