L'elevazione precedentemente senza nome ha preso il nome durante una gita per la festa del papà nel 1998 dai membri del Club alpino tedesco. Stampa e televisione hanno raccontato con umorismo della prima salita del punto più alto nel distretto di Steinburg, dove erano attaccati una croce di vetta e un ausilio per l'arrampicata. Nel 2018 il nome è stato inserito nella carta topografica dell'ufficio topografico statale.
